On Saturday, September 22nd the Amalgamated held their annual barbecue in the plaza between the two towers.  It was a little cold and windy that day and I tried to set up a background to continue my series on neighbors for the 85th anniversary celebration.  It was a vain attempt even with the help of cooperators and the amalgamated staff as the wind kept blowing the background around.

Instead I decided to take some candid and posed shots without a background.  The three young ladies above were interested in having their pictures taken and I agreed to take their photos together and separately with the hope of using their images in the 85th anniversary show.  It was a nice afternoon even with the wind as everyone enjoyed themselves.

The project is progressing nicely and I will probably do one more shoot at the 85th Anniversary Lunch.  Gary and Walter have put together a preliminary edit for the video and it looks good.  More is needed and we will meet to discuss what else needs to be done.  I hope to see a good crowd at the show in late November or December.

Last Sunday I set up a mini photo studio in the Amalgamated’s ninth building club room. At the same time the Nursery School was setting up and running a Bazaar along Gale Place, which was closed, to cars. The Bazaar has been held for years – I don’t know exactly how many, but it has been taking place since before my kids were at the nursery and my son is now 26. The shoot was difficult because the computer imaging program kept crashing and my concentration was taxed by the loud music but the DJ refused to lower the volume. So I didn't take as many images as I hoped for Despite everything, everyone seemed very happy wih their 4x6 prints.

So where do we go from here? I'll be taking photos of the Board of Directors and possibly AH Consumers and Park Reservoir. I would like to do it all on one night but they asked me to come on 3 different nights. I want to set up
a weekend to photograph the members of the various clubs and next weekend we will set up at the community art show and photograph there. I hope to photograph the long time cooperators, especially the original cooperators
and the Holocaust survivors. Hopefully on a weekend when the security car can bring them to either the Vladeck or the 9th building club room.

The video interviews are being handled by Gary Axelbank while Aaron Olshan and I are doing some B roll filming and interviewing.Gary did interviews at the Nursery Bazaar and he is going to do more this Friday.
