Bio

I have lived in the Bronx for all of my 61 years. I am photographer, videographer, print-maker, and educator. As an artist, I have exhibited in fine art venues, and in the commercial field.  My commercial work began as a media specialist at Lehman College’s Educational Program in 1975.  I worked as a freelance photographer through the DENA photo agency and I have also worked as a freelance videographer for various agencies.). For the past thirty years I have taught photography, the last twenty-one at the High School of Art & Design.

Recently I was the recipient of a grant from the Bronx Council on the Arts Community Arts Fund for a photographic project I call “ Photo – Synthesis.” I also won a 2010 BRIO (Bronx Honors Its Own) individual artist award for photography.  This is my fourth such award. My work has been exhibited in many Bronx and Manhattan venues including: Lehman College (Photographing Woodlawn, curated by Susan Hoeltzel – the invite used one of my images, 2010), The Taiwan Cultural Center (Visions: Internal and Observed – an exhibit of both etchings and photos, 2007), The School of Visual Arts (Internal Politics – an exhibit of etchings 2006), Krasdale Art Galleries ( curated by Sigmund Balks in White Plains & the Bronx – Best of the Bronx Part II  - etchings, 2007) and the Longwood Arts Gallery at Hostos Community College ( Every Day is like Sunday, curated by Edwin Ramoran – prints 2006).  I began exhibiting work in 1981 with a solo photographic exhibit at the Educational Alliance in downtown Manhattan.

In September, one of my Photo – Synthesis prints was exhibited at the Governor’s Island Festival, through the New York Foundation for the Arts Boot Camp Program.  This group will be curating their own exhibit this February, in a venue still to be determined.  In December I will be exhibiting 25 prints from the Photo – Synthesis series at the Vladick Hall in the Bronx.
